Second International Conference
"Challenges in Geotechnical Engineering"
The Second International Conference "Challenges in Geotechnical Engineering" took place at the Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture (KNUCA) from 20 to 23 November, 2017.
The conference was organized by KNUCA and the University of Zielona Góra (UZ) in cooperation with the Ukrainian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering (UkrSSMGFE) under patronage of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
The conference was organized in the framework of international cooperation between Ukrainian (KNUCA) and Poland (UZ).
The conference lasted for 3 days and included six sections devoted to geotechnical subjects.
The first day.
The participants listened to 2 lectures. These were the lectures of prof. Rolf Katzenbach (Germany) and prof. Shahab Yasrobi (Iran).
Also there were three plenary sections on the first day.
The second day.
Two trips were organized in the morning. The events took place simultaneously:
- Cultural trip to historical places of Kiev.
- Technical tours, which included visits to a construction site of a skyscraper, archaeological excavations carried out for underground reconstruction, and other interesting objects.
The conference sections were held in the afternoon. Sections were held simultaneously.
The third day.
Two last sections were held in that day.
During the closing of the conference it was announced that the next Conference will be held in University of Zielona Góra on September 10-13, 2019.
